dc.description.abstract Economic academia is emerging as a vital conduit between local realities and global aspirations, holding the potential to drive sustainable national development through innovation, entrepreneurship, and industry engagement. Universities are no longer just centers of theoretical knowledge; they are becoming entrepreneurial ecosystems, shaping regional economies and fostering collaboration among students, faculty, industry, and communities. A modern economics curriculum must go beyond rote learning to integrate real-world applications, regional economic understanding, and interdisciplinary learning. Action-oriented pedagogy, entrepreneurship education, and industrial training for faculty are essential to bridge the academic-industry gap and enhance employability. Furthermore, embedding research into the curriculum not only enriches student learning but also ensures that academic work remains relevant to evolving local and global challenges. However, to realize this vision, universities must invest in faculty development, prioritize inclusive teaching, and incentivize real-world engagement. The balance between research, teaching, and community service must be re-evaluated, ensuring that academic contributions remain student-centric and socially impactful. For economic academia to contribute effectively to nation-building and global problem-solving, it must foster a culture of continuous learning, collaboration, and practical innovation—anchored in local realities but oriented towards global progress. en_US
