dc.description.abstract The Uniform Civil Code (UCC) controversy in India is a complicated and multidimensional matter that lies at the nexus of national integration, religious freedom, and constitutional principles. The ramifications of enacting a UCC on India's secular framework-which is defined by the coexistence of many personal laws serving different religious communities---<lre critically examined in this study. Although a UCC is envisioned under Article 44 of the Indian Constitution as a way to advance gender justice and legal consistency, its implementation has freCJuendy been opposed out of concerns about cultural homogenization and the degradation of minority rights. This paper investigates whether the UCC can be used to harmonize personal. laws without compromising Indian society's pluralistic structure. By means of a doctrinal examination of constitutional provisions, seminal rulings, and comparative legal viewpoints, the research assesses whether a UCC and the secularism principle can coexist in a manner that honors both unity and diversity. The study makes the case for a consultative, well-rounded strategy that places a high value on legal fairness, inclusivity, and respect for India's varied culture. The study's ultimate goal is to offer a comprehensive understanding of how a UCC may support or contradict secularism in the biggest democracy in the world. en_US
